plan. The total length of road is 161.73 kilometres. The total cost of Rs. 10,408 crore
includes construction cost of Rs. 7,560 crore and land acquisition cost of Rs.. 2,848 crore. The six-lane road would have two service lanes, 7.5 km elevated

The
proposed 170-km ring road project that would cover the fringe areas of Pune and
Pimpri Chinchwad got a push after the state government approved Maharashtra
State Road Development Corporation's proposal (MSRDC) for preparing a detailed
project report (DPR).
The DPR would be prepared by a consultancy firm. Consultancy services are going to perform a feasibility study and preparation of the DPR with preliminary estimates and design.

The exponential growth in industrial area and other
socio-economic development has created a need of ring road around the twin
cities taking care of all the outbound traffic. Pune and PCMC. Vehicular
traffic from highways (Mumbai-Pune-Solapur highway and other main roads such as
Pune-Nashik, Pune-Ahmednagar and Pune-Satara) passes through the heart of the
both cities which leads to traffic problems. For instance, traffic coming from
Solapur and going towards Mumbai can be diverted from the ring road. This would take care of
the traffic towards Solapur, Ahmednagar, Nashik, Yavat and other outbound
traffic.
A
great relief of this ring road to the commuters is that they don’t have to
shell out money for TOLL as the expenses are going to be recovered from the
additional floor space index (FSI).
